Forensic Psychology Associates is a team of psychologists and professional counselors providing forensic evaluations for the courts and a variety of services to corporate, police, fire, and other security agencies. Our staff are licensed and members of such organizations as the American Psychological Association, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and the Society for Police and Criminal Psychology. We are experienced in pre-employment and fitness evaluations, critical incident debriefings, program development, leadership assessment, mental health evaluations, teaching and training, court assessments, and the treatment of trauma disorders.

President
Saz Madison, Ph.D.
Saz Madison, Ph.D. received his degree in Clinical Psychology from Central Michigan University in 2006. He practiced psychotherapy at the Michigan State University Counseling Center, the Central Michigan University Counseling Center, and in private practice from 1999 to 2005. He then taught at Rockhurst University as a professor of psychology from 2005 to 2015. He was named faculty member of the year at Rockhurst and has 10 professional publications, several of them focusing on social problem-solving. Dr. Madison is experienced in forensic psychological evaluations and pre-employment assessments for police.

Daniel Claiborn, Ph.D.
Daniel C. Claiborn, Ph.D. is licensed in Missouri and Kansas and has provided police psychology and security personnel services for over 35 years. He has served as an Instructor at several police academies for over 25 years. He has three times served as President of the Kansas Association of Professional Psychologists (now Practice Division of the Kansas Psychological Association). Dr. Claiborn has received training as an invited participant at the FBI’s World Congress of Police Psychology in Quantico, and he has received advanced training from the Laboratory of Scientific Interrogation in Phoenix as well as the NYPD. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police (Police Psychology Section), the National Sheriff’s Association, and the Society for Criminal and Police Psychology. Dr. Claiborn has his Master’s Degree from Vanderbilt University and his Ph.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He has taught at Iowa State University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City, lectured at Arizona State University, the University of Nebraska, the University of Iowa, and the University of Kansas Medical School.

Michelle Abella, Psy.D.
Michelle Abella, Psy.D., received her degree in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2006. She has forensic psychology experience in violence and suicide risk assessment, critical incident stress debriefing, violence prevention programming, and police psychology. She’s provided pre-employment police psychological evaluations for the Salina, Kansas, Police Department for over five years, and she has been with FPA since 2015.

Richard Benson, Ph.D.
Richard Benson, Ph.D. received his degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1984 and is licensed in Kansas and Missouri. He has been with FPA for 18 years and in psychological practice for over 35 years. Dr. Benson has extensive experience in psychotherapy, practice management, forensic/psychological assessment, and training and psychology presentations. He specializes in Attention Deficit Disorder and is trained and experienced in police/fire pre-employment psychological evaluations.
